North Sea beach races calendar 2023-2024

Winter is coming and so it is quietly time for the increasingly popular MTB beach races at the North Sea. The typical flat sandy beaches and accompanying wind give this type of race a special character, without talking about the potentially inclement weather conditions.

Tactically, the beach races are a bit like road cycling, with fast courses and fan formation on the open beaches. And very regularly, you run into a professional cyclist who comes to maintain his or her fitness during the winter.

The beach racing season kicks off on 22 October in northern France's Wissant with the Beach Race de la Baie de Wissant followed by a series of MTB beach races in France, Belgium and the Netherlands with the odd one out being the Battle on the Beach Race in Wales.
