South Africa has long been known for its numerous mountain bike stage races like the Cape Epic, Cape Pioneer Trek, ... but we see also increase the popularity of mountain bike events organized in other parts of Africa, especially Central and East Africa with among others the Migration Gravel Race in Kenya.
Another Central African cycling event is the Rwandan Epic, which announced its third edition, ... The Rwandan Epic edition 2023 will take place from Tuesday 31 October till Saturday 4 November 2023 with departure in Kigali, Umujyi wa Kigali (Kigali Province), Rwanda.
The 5-day mtb stage race in the heart of Africa sees a growing number of amateurs signing up each edition but still aims to keep it, with max. 75 teams a rather small event in scale but big in impact as scholarships and discounted fees are offered to local talent, mainly covered by the entry fees of international riders.
The Rwandan Epic is a mtb stage race for duo's. Solo riders or e-bikers are admitted to participate "hors compétition", as riders who loose their teammate during the race.
