Race organisation invites road cyclists to a challenging and fun cycling experience in the desert landscape

Tour-Gran Fondo Eilat 2023 will take place on 1 and 2 December (Friday and Saturday). Around 700 cyclists are expected to take part in the Prologue, an individual time trial of 2.5 kilometers, and the road race on a challenging 139-kilometer course at the astonishing Red Sea.

The short individual time trial takes place in the northern part of the city of Eilat, while Saturday morning’s road race will take place on a 139-kilometer course with closed roads, the amazing background of the Red Sea on one side, and the mountains of Eilat on the other.

The route is designed for road cyclists to live a special experience in the desert with breathtaking views, and also includes challenging sections made for racers who want to compete for the victory (overall and in different age categories). The Highway 90, Ketura Junction, Neot Smadar, Timna Park, Ovda Road and Netafim Cross, with the overview of Sinai and the Gulf of Eilat, will be to everyone's liking.

Thanks to the comfortable weather, particularly in the winter months, many sports events are held in the city of Eilat. These events attract athletes from all over the world. The city has set as its main goal to increase internal and external tourism through sports tourism and is preparing for the reception of hundreds of riders and their families, who come to enjoy a sports event at an international level, and everything the city has to offer.

The city of Eilat, Gran Fondo Israel and the Israel Cycling Association, therefore, invite the cycling community to a special weekend of riding in the city of Eilat, the Arava road and Eilat mountains.

Tour-Gran Fondo Eilat 2022 is an event for road cyclists organized by the Gran Fondo Israel, who are leading professionals in the cycling field. In the Gran Fondo, the organization cooperates with the Municipality of Eilat, the Eilat Tourism Corporation, the Israel Cycling Association, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Negev-Galil, the Ministry of Culture and Sports and many other partners and commercial organizations.

Harel Nahmani, from Gran Fondo Israel, the organisation of the event, says that Tour-Gran Fondo Eilat 2022 cycling event is a unique event in one of the most beautiful and special areas in the world. “This is a Gran Fondo for cyclists of all levels, who are interested in challenging themselves. After a long period in which many of the big cycling events were cancelled, Gran Fondo Israel is returning with an event that exceeds all expectations.
