Organizer:
Come and discover the valleys and alpine mountains of the Annecy region during the Cyclomontagnarde de la Haute-Savoie.
As you leave the town, a balcony overlooking the Mont Blanc massif awaits you as you climb the Arpétaz, Aravis, Croix Fry and Saint Jean Sixt passes. After the descent to Entremont, the Col des Glières will take you to its plateau via a gravel section just before the summit, a mythical passage for the Tour de France. On this desert plateau, a Mecca for the Resistance during the last war, your gaze will be drawn to your left by a monumental sculpture by Emile Gilioli, which rises like a V of victory in memory of the maquis.
After descending to Thorens-Glières, a series of small passes on the plateau des bornes (col des fleuries, col d'Evires, col du pas du cheval, col Le parc, col pas de l'échelle) will guide you towards the famous Salève mountain. Next comes a 14km ascent through the forest to the top of a plateau where you can admire a 360-degree panorama overlooking Annemasse, Geneva and its lake with the famous jet d'eau, and the Jura, Alps and Savoie ranges. You'll cross the Grande Gorge and Croisette passes and finally the Col des Pitons, the highest point in this massif. You will then return to Annecy via Cruseilles after crossing an old suspension bridge, built in 1839, which overlooks the river Les Usses at the bottom of a valley where the old thermal baths of La Caille, known to the Romans, once stood.
